Rural Washington Is Often Overlooked

Most autism advocacy, research, and funding in Washington state is concentrated in the Puget Sound corridor — Seattle, Tacoma, Bellevue. Lewis County families face longer drives, fewer specialists, fewer support groups, and fewer programs designed with rural realities in mind.

Statewide collaboration is how we make sure the policies, programs, and dollars that shape autism services in Washington actually work for the people who live south of Olympia.

Where the Coalition Plugs In

Policy & advocacy

We weigh in on Washington-state legislation, DSHS / DDCS rulemaking, and rural-services funding decisions that affect autistic families.

Coalition-to-coalition

We share resources, training, and program models with sister autism coalitions across the state — especially other rural counties.

Research participation

When state and university researchers study autism in Washington, we make sure rural voices are sampled, heard, and reflected in the findings.

Provider networks

Connecting Lewis County families with specialists, therapists, and programs based elsewhere in the state — whether by referral, telehealth, or visiting clinics.
